About Xlimkid

Xlimkid, born Boakye Henry, is a 21-year-old rising Ghanaian rapper and vocalist from Kumasi–Esereso, whose sound blends trap, soul, highlife, and Afrobeats with a unique emotional depth. A Cancer by star sign, he channels the emotions of his life into his art — from the pain of his parents’ separation to the chaos of everything happening around him, music is his safest escape.

Introduced to hip-hop by his elder brother, Xlimkid fuses highlife and hip-hop but uses hip-hop as his main language to speak to his fans, describing his lane as “melodic trap.” While he’s best known for his raw, pain-driven storytelling, he’s far from one-dimensional — his music also explores love, ambition, self-discovery, and street reality.

Effortlessly switching between English and Twi, he crafts songs that resonate across cultures and generations. A fashion-forward creative with a strong visual identity, Xlimkid is redefining what it means to be an African artist today — bold, diverse, emotionally honest, and unafraid to evolve — and with a growing catalog and international attention, he’s fast becoming a breakout voice for the new wave of Ghanaian music.

After gaining momentum through consistent trends, he was recruited into the Kumasi Asakaa movement and featured on O’Kenneth’s joint project Pain In Glory (The Tape) (October 2023), one of Ghana’s most talked-about tapes with millions of streams across platforms. Their standout record “Lonely Road” later appeared on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Chart — and a major co-sign from American rapper Lil Durk, specifically highlighting Xlimkid’s verse, helped drive global recognition.

He has also worked with Sarkodie on “Trauma” (a breakout record from The Championship EP) and featured Sarkodie on the “Valley of Trappers” Remix. Live, Xlimkid has proven his star power on some of Ghana’s biggest platforms, commanding massive festival and concert crowds at stages like Rapperholic, Revival Concert, and Tidal Rave. He continues to gain international spotlight, including a feature on Rolling Stone Africa Future of Music
