Fast Ghanaian rising Rapstar Xlimkid unveil his debut EP “Life On The Edge (L.O.T.E)”. The project is a deeply personal body of work that explores the emotional complexities of modern life through melodic rap, trap, and soul-infused sounds.

Xlimkid, born Boakye Henry, is a 21-year-old Ghanaian rapper and vocalist from Kumasi–Esereso, whose sound blends trap, soul, highlife, and hip-hop with a unique emotional depth. A Cancer by star sign, he channels the emotions of his life into his art — from the pain of growing up in a broken home following his parents’ separation, to the chaos of navigating life and the music industry. For Xlimkid, music has always been a safe escape and a way to process the world around him.

A trap artist known for blending trap, soul, highlife, and hip-hop, Xlimkid was introduced to hip-hop by his elder brother. While he fuses highlife and hip-hop influences, he uses hip-hop as his main language to speak to his fans, describing his lane as “melodic trap.” While he’s best known for his raw, pain-driven storytelling, he’s far from one-dimensional — his music also explores love, ambition,

self-discovery, resilience, and street reality

Effortlessly switching between English and Twi, he crafts songs that resonate across cultures and generations. A fashion-forward creative with a strong visual identity, Xlimkid is redefining what it means to be an African artist today — bold, diverse, emotionally honest, and unafraid to evolve. With a growing catalogue and increasing international attention, he is fast becoming one of the breakout voices of Ghana’s new wave of music

After gaining momentum through consistent viral moments and fan engagement, Xlimkid featured on O’Kenneth’s joint project Pain In Glory (The Tape) (October 2023), one of Ghana’s most talked-about tapes with millions of streams across platforms. Their standout record “Lonely Road” achieved major milestones, appearing on the U.S. Afrobeats Chart and reaching #1 on Apple Music Ghana, while also charting on Shazam in multiple countries across Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and parts of Europe. The song also earned a major co-sign from American rapper Lil Durk, who publicly highlighted Xlimkid’s verse, helping push the record into global conversations.

Xlimkid has continued to strengthen his catalogue through notable collaborations, including Sarkodie on “Trauma” from The Championship EP, the “Valley of Trappers” Remix featuring Sarkodie, and “Sa Me” with Reggie, further cementing his connection to the Kumasi trap movement. He has also

collaborated with DarkoVibes, showcasing his ability to move across sounds and audiences within Ghana’s evolving music landscape.

Live, Xlimkid has proven his star power on some of Ghana’s biggest stages, commanding massive festival and concert crowds at events such as Rapperholic Concert, Revival Concert, and Tidal Rave. His rising influence has also attracted international attention, including recognition from Rolling Stone Africa, where he was featured in the Future of Music spotlight.

With Life On The Edge, his debut EP, Xlimkid dives into the darker realities of life — the internal conflicts, personal struggles, and societal pressures faced by many young people today. The project reflects on his childhood struggles growing up in a broken home, the obstacles he has faced in pursuing music, and the emotional battles that come with chasing a dream, while still carrying a strong message of resilience, growth, and hope

Through soul-soothing melodies, introspective lyrics, and melodic rap, the project explores the emotional layers of modern life and the journey toward healing and self-understanding.

Life On The Edge represents the first chapter in Xlimkid’s artistic vision, championing pain-driven storytelling and melodic rap while raising awareness about real-life struggles and the power of perseverance. As his story continues to unfold, the EP positions Xlimkid as one of the most emotionally compelling voices of Ghana’s new generation of artists.
